Lace Closure Sew In
Everything you need to know about our lace closure sew ins at Hair Extensions, Inc.
Lace Closure Sew In
Also known as a Sew In Weave with Closure, is a full sew in which we braid all of your hair down to create a foundation. We then sew in a lace closure to create a part. We offer the best lace closures in Tampa as we only use HD lace closures, swiss lace closures, and thin lace closures. After we install your closure and wefts, we customize your parting and hairline so you get a natural look without having to blend your natural hair in.
Hot tools are safe for your weave, but a full sew in weave is a great reason to take a break from heat styling for a while. If you’ve got naturally curly hair that you typically straighten, go for a full straight weave. Your natural curly hair will be fully protected and you can save all that time with the flat iron.
Benefits of A Lace Closure Sew In
- The closure mimics your natural scalp
- Gives the illusion of fuller hair especially around a thin hair line
- The ultimate protective style
- Encourages hair growth
- Hair is reusable
Who are closure sew ins for?
Because all the natural hair is braided down, a full weave is ideal for clients who are ready for a total color change or a complete texture change. And because the closure mimics the scalp, hair can be strategically placed right along the hair line to add fullness.
What type of hair is needed?
The best type of hair you can purchase is pure virgin remy hair so for that, we suggest our Luxe Virgin Hair or HD Virgin Hair in straight, body wave, deep wave, deep curly or kinky curly. With either of these lines, they can easily last a year or more if you care for them properly. If you like hair color, we can lighten them to any shade or color them to any tone. Check out our store to see all of options we have available for your installation.
How many bundles do I need for a lace closure sew in?
If you are wearing 18″ or shorter, 2-3 bundles will suffice. For 20″ to 24″, 3-4 bundles depending on how full you like your hair. And for 26″ or longer, 4-6 bundles is needed.
How long does the installation take?

Lace Closure Sew In FYI
Risks
A lace closure sew in has a very low risk of damage because none of your own hair is left out. Lace closure sew ins will not damage your hair if installed properly. What damages your hair is poor maintenance, styling tools, and excessive pulling of your own hair. You can also bald the closure with excessive scratching. The weight of the hair extensions and the closure can cause stress where the tracks begin. This is especially true for finer hair. If this occurs, you will have to get your extensions redone more often to prevent any damage.
Side Effects
Because of the braids in the foundation as well as the sewing, the first day or so of a sew in can result in tightness and temporary headaches. A simple pain reliever before installation and before bed can alleviate some of the tension.
Maintenance
Maintenance on your lace closure sew in is required every two weeks with tightening done at 4 weeks. We remove the lace closure completely and rebraid the front cornrows then reapply the closure to the front of your hair line. Keep in mind that tightening the tracks behind the lace closure is just resewing your tracks in a different way to add more tension. It will never be as tight as the original sew in. The only way to get it as tight as the original sew in is to remove and reinstall it.
We only allow one closure tightening per sew in cycle.
Removal
When it time to remove your lace closure sew in, our removal process ensures that your natural hair is protected. We gently remove your closure and tracks, unbraid your hair, and detangle your hair. Click here to review our entire removal process.
